Makeover yo!

Hi!  How are you?

As you can see, I switched over to my own domain and the blog design is completely different from what it used to be.  Fit for the Soul had a makeover yo!

The design and the site itself still need improvement, but I’m getting there while having fun at it!

I think through this process I learned a lot about technology.

I believe that this has only confirmed magnified the fact that I am terrible with computers!  I’m sure you can’t be worse than me even if you think you are. :P

I had a great weekend starting with some of Jessica’s whole wheat cherry vanilla pancakes.  And congratulations to me!  This time, I barely changed anything in the recipe–I only halved the recipe for me and my sis.  :)

I topped mine with PB&CO’s Dark Chocolate Dreams and cherries.

I briefly shared the other day that a 13 year old rapper was comin’ to town.

He rapped for the kids where Greg and I volunteer and obviously raised the roof!  He was on fiyyyyaaa!!

Here’s some proof that 4th and 5th grade girls can have frighteningly raging hormones, and here we thought it was only the male species that raged like that.

Oh the horror of being loved…

I’m so glad the kids enjoyed this little treat.  This young man was so mature and inspiring.

I have no doubt that the kids’ perspectives of life changed just a tad bit.  Hopefully, they know that they don’t have to lose hope in life, and that they’re precious in God’s eyes just the way they are.

Then come Saturday, Greg and I went on a date to make up for the busyness we’ve had these days.  We went to this place by the ocean where they serve appetizers on the rooftop.  It’s literally the roof of a cute little hotel.

It was awesome to just spend time together without doing homework for once.  We just enjoyed the view of God’s beautiful creation while watching people have fun.

I think that being in the presence of a loved one (or the love of your life) and being comfortable in silence is such a powerful factor in a relationship.  Any feedback from all you married people?  Do you agree with that or not?

Now fast forward to today, I want to share an amazing breakfast combo with you!

This is a bowl of Carob Oats. Holy Moly!  Words cannot describe how good this was.

You may already know that I’m always about making my breakfasts wholesome and nutritious.  Well most of the time.

Carob comes from a tree that produces Carob pods.  The looks and the taste of it is deemed to be somewhat similar to chocolate.

I agree that they both look similar, but the flavor is more like a cross between mild chocolate and berries.  Kind of hard to describe actually.

It is packed with nutrients including antioxidants.  Sources claim that it improves digestion, lowers cholesterol, and even prevents diarrhea in children.

Pretty awesome if you ask me! ;)

These are the bowl ingredients:

  • oats
  • Whole Foods almond milk <– amazing flavor and creaminess!
  • water
  • sea salt
  • Bob’s Red Mill Carob Powder <– I think the link shows the ginormous bag though
  • banana+cinnamon
  • topped with WF’s cashew butter, preserves, and Erin Baker’s granola

I dare you to try this mix.  :D

I hope you’ve been well and I shall talk to you soon.

p.s:  Is the blog page showing alright for you?  Oh, and do you still get the email notifications? I’m still such a noob when it comes to this.

What has inspired you this weekend?

Have you tried Carob?  If so, how do you like it?

I think they’re tired of me! :P And it took me a loooong time. I’ve just been doing it on my spare time over a course of a few weeks.

And the view is so beautiful… I love being able to be in a comfortable silence with the people I love and just enjoy the moment or the surroundings – although I’m not married I do think it is a good thing to be able to do that in a relationship ;)

Love the new blog design. I agree about quiet time with someone you love. Not uncomfortable silences, but rather the knowledge that you’re both sharing a quiet appreciation of the same thing (9 times out of 10 that “thing” is nature).

Ellie May 3, 2011 at 10:47 am

I like your perspective on that Christine ms. Merf! :D yeahhh now that I think about it, it’s almost always nature! or people. haha but not in a rude way of course

Ellie May 3, 2011 at 10:45 am

Hola Coco~! it’s kind of like chocolate when you initially eat it as in the slight bitterness, but then it becomes sweet and kiiiinda fruity?

Sophia @ Raven Waves May 3, 2011 at 4:55 am

I think your blog seriously looks amazing, girl!!! Congrats! I’ve never tried carob but I see it all over the blog-osphere!

Hi Ellie! Your new blog looks great! Congrats on the new relaunch! I, too was wondering where you were! Welcome back lovely!

This is a silly question but are you a teacher? I’m sure if I combed your blog a little I could find the answer. I am a teacher and really enjoy when motivational speakers or rappers in this case, come to visit classrooms! The kids love it!

Ellie May 3, 2011 at 10:39 am

hehe thank you for the welcome Joanna ;) ohhh haha I should make that clear–but those kids are just the ones Greg and I volunteer for. We work with an organization called M.A.D. club of OC and we get to help them with hw, spend time with ‘em, and even teach the Word! You can actually join too since you’re KIIIIINDA around here? if you’re ever interested, be our guest :D

Ive been meaning to do a makeover as well. Are you self hosted now too or did you just buy your own domain? I want to switch to self hosted so my blog can look more professional, but its so expensive!! Any tips?

Reply

Ellie May 4, 2011 at 11:24 am

hey kat! I’m self-hosted. It’s pretty nice b/c there’s more freedom and options this way. :) hmmmm I would advise you that if you want to get self hosted, do it as soon as you’re able to b/c the process is realllllly hectic/confusing and tedious. Well, I’m not sure if it’s b/c I’m not good with computers. But that’s how it was for me. :P

The blog does look wonderful!!

I love carob it is so good!

And i also wanted to respond to you from the comment you made on my post!
Your comment was :” Carlee, as long as you’re strong and healthy, then I’m sure this will have a good outcome! I just pray and hope that you’ll continue to do it the healthy way–for your own good. you’re a beautiful daughter of God, and we’re here for ya. and by the way!! i know this may sound heretical, but you don’t have to exercise for 60 minutes. In fact, you can do super duper intense workouts for 15, 20, or 30 minutes and the results will be just as good if not better. love ya! <3"

My response : Thank you so much! You are so sweet! God is amazing! We are lucky to be his!!

No, I understand what your saying! I am not doing cardio though! I am just walking! This is def for me! Not anyone else!"

Thanks! LOVE YOU TOO!! :)

I just discovered carob recently, and despite being a chocolate lover, I think it tastes amazing! Sort of like butterscotch? Maybe that’s just me. :)
