Beautiful Minds

Hi friends!  I’ve been a busy little bee as graduation is coming up and I’m finishing a massive amount of school assignments and exams.

I am just really really hoping that I passed my Historical Linguistics class because it nearly killed all of us haha!  Hey at least I’m not alone. ;)

You know, I tend to be an overly slightly positive individual.  I know that it’s not a bad thing at all–unless I unintentionally diminish others’ problems and issues.

So how do I deal with certain situations in my life?

I definitely cannot take the credit because God helps me to stay positive about the topsy-turvy curves that life throws at me; however, there are some things that I need to choose to do and act out.

All I have to do is realize that the battle starts within the mind!!

Whatever we think or feel, we act accordingly to that feeling or thought.

It’s so interesting that our perspectives are the very factors that affect our lives–and that includes our decisions as well as our relationships.

We need to be aware that our words hold power.

Whether we are talking to our loved ones or strangers, or even to ourselves, our words hold power.  Simple as that.

Talking negatively to my own self never helps the situation.  Here is what I like to do when my mind is racing with a myriad of thoughts:

1.) I simply go to God in prayer! Remember? He hears us!

2.)  I read the Bible because it reminds me of God’s promises and helps me see through HIS eyes, and not my own.

3.)  I find someone I can talk to like a friend or a loved one (this isn’t as obvious as we may think to some individuals. Psychologists say that sadly enough, many people don’t have someone to trust their words with)

4.)  I take nice quiet walks at the park or the beach :D

5.)  I take extra time to listen to others or help them out in my time of need.

6.)  I simply remind myself of how much I am actually grateful for.

I also loved what Katie wrote in her blog in regards to positive self-talk.  Go check it out–I highly suggest it. :)

So what I am wanting to convey here is that as long as our perspective about life or anything in general stays stuck in a rut, it would be very difficult to see what is behind the veil.

Sure, there may be something amazing out there on the other side waiting for us…but can we see the beauty of it through all the gunk and confusion?  <– That’s a rhetorical question.

So let’s do our best to change our perspective guys!  Are ya with me?  I can’t hear you! Are ya with me?? :)

Okay I really have to go!

Have a blessed day and talk to you soon.

Love,

Ellie <33

I completely agree – negative thoughts only make things twenty times worse, but sometimes they’re so hard to get yourself away from!

Ellie! You are such a positive person. I love coming to your blog. I tend to be pretty negative, which takes a lot of energy out of me. I don’t know why that is but I’m working on it. I’m a new born again Christian (former Catholic) and find that prayer is really what works for me. The Lord is SO awesome and has blessed me with everything I need in life. I am craving and striving for a stronger relationship with Him. I’m still working on attending service regularly, signing up for bible studies, and reading my devotionals. I need some support though because not a lot of my friends are Christian. I would love to hear how you built your relationship to be so strong.

Joanna I’m so blessed to know that you’re being strengthened :) you know what? the truth is that I’m always struggling–but it’s a good struggle…We always need to make to choice to start the day with “Lord have Your way in me”. The deeper I go in knowing Him, the more my roots DESIRE to dig deeper into the ground. Just as a tree that lives in a desert literally has roots that go way into the earth. Whereas, a tree growing in abundance doesn’t need as strong of a root. At the same time, I’m always learning that His GRACE is enough! yeah, I have to do my part as well..but He’s constantly reminding me that I don’t have to gain His approval. I’ll email ya!

I’m with you! :) Positive self talk is so important! Negativity is only a loop we create for ourselves and it can be neverending if we don’t try to actively stop it and replace it with more positive thoughts… can be hard though… I find that it helps to try and make a concious decision in the morning to live a positive day, just one day at a time :)
