But oh so much fun!!!
As most of you readers are aware, I’m getting married within less than 2 months. That’s 2 months!! Say what?! Yes, I am a tad bit nervous and not to mention, beyond excited about marriage–so much so that I feel like I need to use the John right now.
*Scratches her head*
Wait a minute…actually no, that’s just my bladder telling me that I had too much Yerba Mate while editing my photos.
TMI! But since when have I been embarrassed about stuff like that anyway?
So, what exactly has this girl been up to? Well let me share with you in the form of photography, simply because I’d rather show more than tell this time.
1.) I proudly present you with some heavn’ly cakes that made me and Greg fall off our seats! Yes my dear amigos, a few days ago Greg and I went to a cake tasting in Laguna Hills. I sort of truly wish that we’d gone to at least 5 other places just because we I love cake so much.
When I initially perused through Simply Sweet Cakery’s website, I had no idea what 4 flavors to choose. Brooke (the founder and master chef) has so many great reviews regarding her wedding cakes. Nevertheless, knowing myself and my “interesting” taste buds, I knew that I wanted something delicious but unique.
The spiced cake with orange marmalade and cream cheese was the one that had me intrigued from the get-go, and Brooke confirmed to me via email that it is one of her absolute faves.
After having tried the four cupcakes pictured above, we both thought that the triple berry and marbled cake were good, but not memorable. In other words, they were delicious but pretty predictable and safe choices. I, of course, love Tiramisu, but Greg isn’t the biggest fan of it. In conclusion, we both fell in love with the spiced cake right off the bat…especially paired with the French butter cream frosting, which will go on the outside of the cake.
Cake tasting for the wedding–check!
2.) And off the beaten path we went into the wild woods, where creatures that look awfully familiar were spotted rustling around the bushes.
Hey there, you look a lot like my fiance!
Both of us enjoy being out in nature and enjoying God’s simple gifts to us. We used to regularly take walks at the park and at the beach, but ever since things got a bit hectic, we hadn’t put much emphasis on that. This week, we made it a point to visit the arboretum in my university and took a pleasant stroll together.
I believe that it is so essential to refuel ourselves with time to relax and stop and smell the roses. Furthermore, I think that spending time with your significant other in simple ways can be so rewarding and healthy for the relationship. We are both intentional in practicing good and healthy habits now so that when we’re married, those habits will stick to us more easily than if we hadn’t practiced.
Pretending to be a model–vain much?
But hey, G told me to!
3.) Two days ago, my bridesmaids (Su and Emily) and I went to David’s Bridal to pick up my altered gown. It goes without saying that my dress was perfectly hemmed, shrunk, and it felt nice and snug on me. Although I can’t show you the dress just yet, I can tell you that I felt like Cinderella…teehee! I know I know, I’ve been way too girly and in fantasy land for a while now, but a girl can dream, right?

4.) On Wednesday Greg and I finally got the wedding registry done! At least, the first half of it. We went to Bed Bath and Beyond and spent a good 2.5 hours there. My feet were extremely exhausted from walking in heels, but it was such a fun experience; we both caught a glimpse of how fun married life will be despite any possible challenges.
Today I’m meeting up with my friend Allyson for a much needed chat over some coffee, and I am beyond excited! Afterward, G & I will be hitting up the Macy’s by his apartment for our registry adventure part deux.
Update!!!
First of all, let me just tell you how thankful I am for your constant encouragement and kind comments regarding life! As you may already know, I had been having a pretty tough time letting my heart be at ease because of the job situation.
There were times when it was more difficult than others mentally, but come to think of it, I still had all the peace I needed from God despite my times of panic. The thing is, Greg just graduated and he was looking for a position in ministry. Basically, we were both out of work. I realize that to most people it may seem somewhat “foolish” to get married without a job. However, we knew that this was our turn to grow in faith and trust in the Lord!
Thankfully, Greg has been speaking at a Filipino church for the past 4 months because they were in need of a pastor. After having applied to the position per the request of the elders, we went through a rather long process of waiting, guessing around, and praying for God’s perfect will to be done. Whether or not we got hired for pastoring at this church, we already knew that we would still thank God for His will and provision. One way or another, we knew we’d be okay….although our minds kept telling us otherwise.
Now, fast forward to this week, and we recently got notice that we got hired at this church! I say “we” because we are a team working together and serving these lovely people together. I am starting to really embrace the fact that it truly won’t be me anymore, but it will be us.
This post is getting way longer than I originally intended to, but I just wanted to share with you the invaluable lessons that I’ve been learning because you have been a part of this journey with me, believe it or not. I hope you have a beautiful day and see you soon!
What/whom have you been appreciating lately?
Do you try and put emphasis on the importance of spending quality time with others?
Any awesome reports you’d like to share?! Please do!
What would your “dream” wedding cake be? Would you care more about the appearance or taste?
-For me, it’s both.
Love,
Ellie <33

Thanks Hannah! It’s definitely nice to have something. He’s always on time! Hehe.
i had no idea that your hubby to be was called to be in ministry! wow so you are going to be a pastor’s wife! what a calling! i agree, the calling is totally “we” because marriage is all about TEAMwork.
. and walks in the arb are the best. have u gone to any botanical gardens yet? they are absolutely breathtaking!
ohhh lol, maybe I wasn’t clear about that–probably not! xD Ahhhh being in ministry will definitely be a great challenge, but such a great blessing nevertheless. Oh yes!! I looove botanical gardens!! I especially love the Huntington. If you’re ever in socal, you have to check it out. April is especially gorgeous with the thousands of different roses.

Wow, congratulations, Ellie! That is such fantastic news– it’s amazing to see the beginning of God’s plans for you & Greg! You know how it goes, sometimes he’ll tear you down to your weaknesses so that you can later fully appreciate your strengths
Love ya girl! <3
thanks Brittany~any hardship is worth it when it comes to growing in our faith in Christ right?
I can not believe the wedding day is almost here for you! I am so excited for you guys!
The cakes looked so good! Cake tasting is a fun part of wedding planning for sure!
Happy Saturday! <3
You are so beautiful. Really and truly beautiful, from the inside out. You truly deserve the happily ever after you’re going to get, and so much more.
P.S. Do you edit in Lightroom? How do you write on the photos? Thanks!
awww shucks. You are really too sweet Kelly! I definitely don’t deserve any of this, but I’ll thankfully and gladly take it
Oh and I edit in Picnik! Give it a try! It’s kinda like the…”spawn” of picasa? haha. It’s awesome b/c it does a great job while it’s free.
So excited for you!! And you are such a lovely person, as Kelly said you completely deserve much joy and happiness
I loved what you wrote about spending time together and appreciating the beauty of the world, it really touched me. Thank you for reminding me that even when things seem incredibly difficult we are still blessed in many other ways
yayy thanks for the feedback Sophie! I’m glad that my post made someone smile.
True that! Just the fact that we’re still breathing is a blessing and miracle in itself <3
YUM – I remember cake tasting too – and LOVED every part of it. I wished that we did go on more cake testing trips, but we were cutting short on time too (didn’t help I spent 2 of the 8 months engaged overseas).
As for stopping to smell the roses – you MUST remember to do that once you get married. It’s a lot easier to slip into habits and forget to be intentional in your time with each other. As pathetic as it sounds, we HAVE to designate Sunday as snuggle day because we’d be busy doing our own things and once it comes time for bed, we feel like we’ve robbed each other of quality time.
You don’t know how touching and awesome your opinion is on this! It’s so great that I’m able to glean from you regarding marriage and habits. I certainly don’t want Greg and I to fall into the “trap” of becoming complacent~ Thank you tons!
2 months?!?!? How exciting!
