Monday Recap

Hello Monday, I see you’re already here!

Everyday seems pretty much like Monday to me…or Sunday for that matter!  This past Sunday was filled with so many great blessings and fun times with my brathas and sistas in Christ!

Oh my goodness. Isn’t her daughter adorable?! *nod yes*

1)  Our friend and sister Raquel just got baptized yesterday.  What a lovely act of faith that was, for reals!  This family has been going through so much tragedy as of late, but to our surprise, God has been using those times of struggle to deepen their faith in Him.  The result of all of that was her choosing to express her faith through baptism and surrender to the Lord.  :D

2)  Accckkkk!!!  Jen and Ray, and AMAZING couple, finally got engaged!  He proposed to her inside the church building  in a really sweet way.  That’s where they first met while they were on the praise band!  Hence, he sat on a stool while serenading to her. <3

*Sigh*

Am I being selfish when I say that I want to do this all over again?!  Yes, I mean the engagement and even the stressful times of wedding preparation.  Haha!

3)  Greg and I were so touched by the kindness of everyone here!  In order to “properly” welcome us, they decided to take us out to lunch at a really nice sushi buffet called Onami.  I’m not usually a fan of buffets because I feel like I don’t eat my money’s worth, but when it comes to sushi+buffet–I’m game.  This place offered the yummiest and freshest food that I’ve ever had in a sushi buffet up to date. We felt a bit uncomfortable receiving so much from them!  But we’re learning that taking when others offer is also a way of loving them back.

The best part about going out together was the fact that we actually got to sit down and enjoy each others’ company.  Many deep conversations ensued our lunch meal.

4)  You see those cute little cabinet knobs with flowers on them?  Well, I think they are just adorable and was delighted when we first moved into this house!  However, our house itself (including the kitchen) is actually really really old, and I believe that it dates back to the 50′s.  I’ve always liked the vintage and rustic feel of things (like my wedding decor), but since this house is rather old, I decided that a little knob change could make it look more “youthful”.  Of course, this house has been slightly remodeled here and there by its former residents, so we don’t have to change things around too much.  :)

I’ve heard it said many times that when it comes to moving into a new place, the smallest details can make quite the difference!  So I went ahead and replaced the cute flowery knobs into these très chic “Venetian Bronze” ones.  Sounds fancy, doesn’t it?  I purchased 14 of them at home depot for less than $20 I believe.

I wish I could have shown you some pre-knob pictures!  But trust me when I tell you that this little kitchen is hardly recognizable.  Well, I may be exaggerating a bit.  Just a bit.

5)  *ching ching!!!*  Law & Order’s sound of suspense, anyone?  Hehe.

Guess what booby trap hole we visited last night.  Yes, my friends…we fell into the trap of visiting IKEA!  Greg has been there plenty of times, but this was my second time going there.  A few days ago I perused through the aisles with no intention of buying anything, but just to get the feel of it all.  And a great feel of IKEA, I got!  Wow….this place is so amazingly beautiful!

As we checked the place out last night, we both swooned at a million couple things on display.  I think people could hear me making mouse-like noises at the sight of pretty much everything.

It didn’t take us long before we fell in love with this bathroom cabinet, but we first have to see how securely the old one is fastened on to the bathroom wall.  It wouldn’t be fun to rip it out just to find out that the wall has a huge hole in it! :P

6)  We ended up purchasing one of the most essential items we’re in need of aside from a couch.  We got a tall kitchen pantry to store up the rest of my kitchenware since there’s a  limited amount of space.

And voilà!!!  Isn’t it so gorgeous?  I love the fact that it’s tall and skinny, which means that it saves some much-needed space.

7)  I’ve also been trying out something that’s kind of new to me!  Well, sort of.  I went ahead and signed up for the free 1-week trial membership at the Core Power Yoga studio.  I tried the “Core Power Yoga and Pilates” class for the first time ever, and it was really enjoyable!  It worked my whole body pretty well while giving me tons of energy in the aftermath.  I can’t say that I will be becoming a member–as of now– because it can get quite pricey.  But for now I’ll be getting the feel of this place and what they have to offer.

If you’ve done renovations before, how was your experience+result?

What space-saving tips do you have?

Have you tried yoga+pilates together?

Love,

Ellie <33

Totally agree on the knobs! Right after graduation when I was lacking a job and in need of a temp place, my friends (a couple) let me crash at their house for a few months. It was pretty outdated, so I added nice nickel knobs to all of their cabinets and drawers, and it looked SO much better. The little things really do matter.

that’s so sweet of you to do for your friends! It’s amazing how much a different color/shape can make such a huge transformation.

Your new kitchen pantry is gorgeous!! So beautiful. I’m a big fan of ‘little things’ making the difference at home too – I did a similar thing with the knobs / handles on old wardrobes in the master bedroom, when I moved into my current house :) Congratulations to your friends too, it sounds like an exciting time of late.

i love yoga and pilates. i’ve been doing it for about 1.5 years now and i prefer that now over the intense running i used to do. the more you do it, the deeper the stretches are and you get such a good workout from them!

OoOOO so nice to get another person’s perspective on yoga+pilates! I love it all and can never choose which type of exercise is my fave. I love everything, for reals! And I agree that yoga+pilates gives you DEEEEP muscle workouts. Works things that I never thought possible.
