Strawberry Season is Here!

Hello dear friends!~I hope you’ve been holding up nicely this week. :)

I certainly have…not!  Well kinda.

Let me share a little somethin’ somethin’ with you.  God totally spared my life yesterday!

Let’s backtrack to Wednesday night.  I basically stayed up all night from 10 pm until 12 pm the next day with my eyes glued to the computer, as I diligently flipped through scholarly Linguistic textbooks that make me feel “grown up” when I read them.

Our class had a final research paper that was due yesterday, Thursday afternoon.  Oddly enough, I felt completely wired and awake throughout the wee hours of the night as well as the next day.  Then, off I went to drop the paper off at my professor’s office.  When I left school to drive back home, I was suddenly hit with fatigue and sleepiness!

Bad idea.  I should have slept in the parking lot or done something wise like that.

As I was stuck in stop-and-go traffic on the way back, I found myself constantly veering off to the left and to right because I was dozing off.  And the warm weather definitely didn’t help.  I know, I admit that it was truly irresponsible of my part.

*Hides in the corner with much shame*

Not long after, I suddenly woke up to the quiet and gentle sound of “click”!

I realized that the gray car to my right was presumably trying to quickly get in front of me, all while I was dozing off and veering sideways.  Turns out, they slightly–just slightly–brushed against the front passenger’s side of my car and barely made the side view mirror fold inwards.

You can definitely say that I was freaked out and shocked!

That car moved behind me and I saw the woman hitting the driver in frustration.  I assume that we were both at fault, but I have now learned my lesson not to drive when I’m extremely tired.  Since we were on the freeway, it was kind of hard to just stop and get out.  Naturally, I wanted to apologize and see if they were okay.  I mouthed “are you alright?” to them, but they stared at me for a good 3 seconds and just zoomed into the carpool lane and left! Just like that.

Ummmm thank you God?!

I truly believe that He was protecting me and those people from a possibly fatal accident!  Perhaps He had His angels lined up just in time to stop our cars from actually colliding. :) *Phew*

So the moral of the story is…kiddos, don’t drive when you’re tired!

The end.

Four words.

I’ve been loving strawberries!

This morning, Greg and I had the same exact breakfast.  I made us some French Toast topped with Sunbutter, coconut butter, chia seeds, caramelized bananas, walnuts, maple syrup, greek yogurt, and sweet strawberry slices.

Usually I find it hard to choose the right kind of strawberry because even though they look super red and smell super good, sometimes they’re just plain sour.

But I can tell that strawberry season is well on its way because my taste buds approved this morning.  Every time the seasons change, I tend to get sick pretty easily.  Gotta have my vitamin C so I can stay healthy! ;)

Another thing that I’ve been loving is our morning coffee brewed by the Keurig coffeemaker from our wedding registry!

Have a safe and blessed weekend everyone! Learn from my mistakes and you’ll be one happy camper. :P

Do you have any stories about having your life spared from a catastrophe?

What fruit have you been loving lately?

Love,

Ellie <33

Oh my gosh! I’m so glad you’re ok. It is very easy to convince yourself you’ll be fine even if tired, especially if you just want to get home or to where you’re going. I’m glad it didn’t end any worse.

And I love strawberries too, especially with almond butter :)

after you mentioned almond butter, I purchased it as soon as I got the chance haha. I kind of missed it! :P And I’m sooo grateful that it didn’t get any worse!

Oh my god, moments where you feel exhausted while driving can be terrifying. You must always, always pull over. SO glad nothing happened to you! xo

That’s definitely a good lesson to learn!

Jason and I were detoured (due to flooding) and drove 15 hours back to Auckland. It took forever because we stopped in every little town for little nap stops and it really helped.

I am quite jealous of strawberry season over there.. but now I have nice warm soups and pies to look forward to down here :)

I’m so glad that you’re okay. And, yes. It is a lesson learned. A good lesson. If you need your rest, rest.

I’m so jealous of your breakfast. It looks so delicious! Yummy strawberries..bananas..greek yogurt..french toast! It’s making me hungry.

Happy to hear you guys are loving the Keurig. We had a less than stellar experience and donated out machine to DH’s break room at room. We just never found a brand of coffee we liked, which was offered in pod form. Strawberries look amazing, by the way :)

Hmm i can see what you mean about the brands! I guess it is a bit more limited than the coffee varieties that regular machines use~Perhaps there will be more choices? Recently my mother in law gave us some folgers kcups and it’s awesome! :) And thanks for stopping by.

GIRL!! thank goodness your ok. I actually used to fall asleep at the wheel ALL THE TIME when I first started college. It was a 30 min commute so I had to get up super early in the AM to get there and on the way back Id always doze off. Hence why I bailed on that college and moved to one closer!
God is good :) Glad he protected my love!!

Ellie!! You don’t know how many times God saved me from traffic. I doze off alllll the time, esp when the weather is hot and I’m cooped up in traffic. Glad you’re okay!

I’m glad that you’re okay. If I’m that tired, I pull off somewhere in the shade and take a quick nap. Driving bores me to tears, so mixing that with sleepiness = death for me. On a cheery note, I’m LOVING strawberries, too! They’re all so tasty right now!

Oh goodness!! I’m glad you are ok! Driving while tired always scares me. They say that losing even a few hours of sleep can be the equivalent to driving after drinking a beer or two, which is definitely not good. Yet in today’s world, so many people have to drive after losing sleep. Makes you think twice though!

Your comment DEFINITELY made me think thrice! That’s soooo scary that it’s almost like being under the influence. 0_0
