Nine Facts

in Food, God

Happy First Day of Autumn everyone!  Yayyyy it has finally arrived, though it still seems like summer here in L.A.  I have to say that as silly as it may sound, I feel betrayed by the weather whenever I hear from you that it’s beginning to feel like Fall where you live. Hehe.

So there are a few factoids that are worth mentioning… Smile  Granted, they are pretty random but sometimes random is good right?  And besides, I really need to adopt the idea of writing shorter posts unlike the last one, and start being more of a list kind of person.  I’ve never been one to make lists, so here goes nothing something!

Fact #1

Oatmeal with spices of all sorts like cinnamon and allspice and apple pieces result in a really delicious breakfast. Try adding egg whites to the mixture and you end up with the fluffiest and creamiest bowl of oats ever. Oh, and I took the liberty to top it with crumbles of the hazelnut cappuccino bread for an extra punch of flavor.

Fact #2

A warmed up corn tortilla with melting gouda cheese and hummus is perfection.  Seriously.  Give it a try.

Fact #3

I must be kind of crazy to not have tried Panda Puffs until now!  It’s so crispy, perfectly sweet, cute (yes, cereal pellets can be cute) and the ingredient list is pretty decent.

Fact #4

Sometimes a good house-cleaning session gives me a great workout, especially if vacuuming and the Shark are involved.  The Shark, by the way, is probably one of the best things we could have asked for in our wedding registry. Smile

Fact #5

God is so good!  Last night I went to church with my parents and there was a missions conference going on.  “Coincidentally”, because I don’t really believe in coincidences, we sat right next to an Argentinean missionary couple.  It was awesome as we chatted in Spanish about all the wonderful things God is doing.  And then, we heard a testimony of a missionary who serves in North Korea.  He has a great vision to see North Korea’s barriers crumbling to the ground and to see people know the love of Christ.

Fact #6

YOU ARE SO LOVED…God is so in love with you even when you don’t feel like He even knows your name.  In our darkest of times, He is closer than we could ever imagine.  “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” –Psalm 34:18

Fact #7

Take note of these wise words!  I saw this earlier on Brittany’s post:

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” –Winston Churchill

Fact #8

Lately my interest in photography and the sweet joy that it brings into my daily life has been gradually increasing.  All the way from the props, the lighting, and the creativity that goes into it is really exciting!

Fact #9

I finally went in for a hair trim and thinning with a set of highlights.

I hope you have a great rest of the day!

Would you like to share some facts about yourself or something that stuck out to you?

Love,

I tried stirring in an egg in my oatmeal once- I took several bites and couldn’t finish the rest. Something about the ‘eggy’ taste that turns me off, though really it was rather because including eggs in oatmeal seriously pumps it up and makes it a whole lot more filling.

I’m not sure if the taste would differ if I were to use only egg whites, well, after reading your post, seems like I ought to give egg whites in oatmeal another try, then! ;)

Hmmm perhaps just the whites might be better? I personally like adding just the whites! But when I eat eggs on their own, the whole shebang has to be there! Especially if it’s runny ;)

I love random lists like this… sometimes it’s the best way to learn something new about someone :) And holy moly can I relate to housework being a good workout. Whenever I get really into deep cleaning my whole place, I always work up quite a sweat!

And sorry to hear that Fall isn’t really showing up in your neck of the woods :( You’re more than welcome to come visit me up here in Canada because Fall is definitely out in full swing already… just pack some warm clothes!

Definitely “learning” to be a list-person! Makes life simpler :P

Cute highlights!

I love that you got to talk to the missionaries! What a blessing. I’m sure it was great for them too. :)

Teehee, just a few hours ago I asked Amber to bring me back either Panda Puffs or Peanut Butter Puffins from her trip to Whole Foods this afternoon. Now I know which one I’m hoping for! :P

I need to try making oatmeal with eggs some time. I make eggs with oatmeal, but that is different. Even though it doesn’t like it would be… And I’ve never tried it with gouda, but just warm tortilla plus hummus is a magical snack!

Gouda is so good! So smokey and creamy. Complete opposite of tangy and salty.

I’ve never tried oatmeal with eggs before – definitely trying that! And I must get some Panda Puffs too – who can resist cute cereal? :)

haha yes, try it! I normally put white instead of the whole thing because it gets creamier that way in my opinion. I know. Cute cereal should be in the dictionary.

haha thank you Alex! I only went through some pages once since I didn’t want to buy it just yet, so I visited Barnes and Noble and “cheated”…hehehee. Just chilled and flipped! But this book is so fun to read and gets you sucked in right away–it’s def. a winner!

Okay I know I’ve been totally absent for a long time and I don’t know how new it is but I LOVE your header. The colors are great. Also that oatmeal should be framed. It’s perfect and so tasty looking. I love your new highlights.

Hahaha, I agree with just about each fact you posted! I recently tried to make my own Panda Puffs, but they didn’t turn out very well…..they were like little rocks! Luckily, my dog ate them! :-) Love your highlights! I am long overdue for a trip to the salon. I’m thinking of going red for a dramatic change! Have a great week Ellie!

I just got back from vacationing in L.A and i can definitely attest to your hot hot weather! Haha! I love it though, i used to live there and have family there so i visit quite often…. i consider myself a californian at heart. :) Who knows, i may even move back there again someday!

I have a whole box of unopened oats at home and seeing your picture made me decide i will finally open them and make some cinnamon oatmeal… with bananas… mmmmm.

Something that stuck with me… Well, this week we had a guest speaker at our church (he is Korean!) and he was sharing his story about how he suffered from a stroke and as a result had hives from the medication. He was crying out to God about why this was all happening to Him when he realized God saying to look at him… and how even at this physical and helpless state when there is nothing attractive about him anymore, his wife is still by his side loving him and caring for him. He realized that the way his wife loved and cared for him, should be the way we love others as well… those who have nothing attractive about them anymore, nothing to offer, nothing to give. :)

Your hair looks great by the way!

Wow that is amazing! It’s even more amazing that God loves us even when we struggle to love ourselves~thank you for sharing that with me, Kym!
