Disneyland is one of those places that are a true treat and rarity in this household. Namely, it’s due to the fact that they ask us to sell our organs at a yard sale, and hopefully have enough dollars to even make it to the park.
Oddly enough, Disney has a way into manipulating people to feel a certain love for it, yet inside our hearts we’re still squirming from the price that we had to pay. Hah! Well, this time it was a bit different in that regard because it’s been a long time a-coming ever since Greg had asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I always seem to give him a hard time and keep my mouth shut and of course, I gave in and blurted out ‘Disney’ since we’ve both been wanting to go there for a while.
To clarify it, in case there is another birthday dinner post or something of that nature, my birthday is actually on October 12.
Before we headed out the door, I made sure that we got properly and deliciously fueled while there since it doesn’t feel too pretty when we feel hunger striking and there are no desirable places to eat at. Instead of eating a big lunch at Disney, we decided that eating ice cream and a great dinner would be the better way to go.
I packed a Black Forest ham sandwich for him (with add-ons), some corn tortilla with hummus, turkey, greens, avocado, feta, fruit/nuts for me, a Promax Bar for Greg and a Kind Bar for myself. Kind Bars are so good for energy!
One of these days I’ll be able to open my eyes on camera.
Hooray for the school-year!
Throughout most of the day we were able to zip by people and ride most of the rides that we like. It’s pretty interesting to see Disney all Halloween[ed] out, especially the Haunted Mansion.
Here we were relaxing and cruising through Small World. By the way, is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the Korean characters have been taken out of Small World?! I was a bit sad about that since they were one of the highlights for me! *Sob*
Greg has always been such a huge pirate fan, and I have to say that he pulls it off smoothly, don’t you think? We have a Trunk-or-Treat event coming up at church for Halloween night, and he’s thinking about being a pirate and I can be his mate. Hehe…we shall see about that.
After about 4 hours at the park we started yawning and slowing down. What better fix than some iced coffee?
Since they were closing down early (6 pm) for a Trick-or-Treat event, we decided to eat dessert before dinner and before we got kicked out. ![]()
Come to mama…!!!
Chomp.
Oh yeah, I totally looked like that through most of my childhood. With an ice cream and piece of candy in my mouth.
After walking around Downtown Disney for a good while, we went to Bubba Gump right around the corner, and very unfortunately, I can’t show you the amazing food we ate there since I forgot to snap a picture. But you will have to trust me that they have some amazing Cajun rice and shrimp dishes. Try them when you’re there! I hope you guys have a wonderful day!
Are you fond of Disney? Do you have a love/hate relationship with them like I do?
Do you tend to go all out with the food there? Or do you just pack your own food?
-I have to admit, I saw a lady with a big turkey leg and I really wanted one.
Love,
Ellie <33

How fun! I haven’t been to Disneyland yet…but I grew up in Orlando and went to Disney World alot! Every time I go I have to go on the same rides… space mountain, pirated of the carribean, the haunted mansion. I love it
heyyy I heard disney world is actually even better than disneyland! Space mountain is so fun.
Advanced happy birthday, Ellie!
I LOVE DISNEY! In fact, that was one of the places my husband and I went to during our vacation to California 2 weeks ago. I don’t think i could ever get tired of the place, no matter what age I am… it still remains such a happy place!
When we went, we didn’t pack food since we were on vacation and we didn’t have food at home that we could pack. The first stop we made was at the turkey leg stand and then then churro stand. *YUMMMMMMMMMMMM* Yeah, we had a theme of turkey legs and churros during our vacation. Haha!
It is strange how no matter what age people are, they still LOVE disney. Even the toughest looking men, lol.
Isn’t Disney Land great? I had a blast when I visited there a while back, just not for kids huh?
Yup! I guess it’s the one place where all kinds of people from all over get to be giddy for a moment
Eeee! I was literally -just- there and this definitely takes me back! I actually love pretty much all things Disney. I agree that they’re a little bit crazy with the prices, but in the end, being there makes you feel something special so I think it’s worth it. And isn’t it strange to see Disney in Halloween mode? I didn’t actually think that Disney celebrated those kind of holidays, but I guess it makes sense. I’d love to see them around Christmas though. And when it comes to food, I usually pack a little bit just because I have allergies, but I’m also no stranger to enjoying what the park has to offer. You only live once
I know~! I was thinking of you when I was there
It was different seeing it halloweened out. And it makes sense not to pack food if you’re staying at a hotel!
You two have so much fun together! You look so happy
Wee looks like so much fun! Your picture of you licking your lips while staring at the ice-cream made me giggle. Can you be any cuter? Glad you both enjoyed yourselves!
Happy Early Birthday Ellie! =) I’m glad to hear you had fun at Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth. What’s your favorite ride there?
And, yes. I LOVE Disney. I’ve been to Disneyland so many times (6 times!)! My favorite ride is Space Mountain. I always go on it. As for It’s a Small World, it’s a classic. Did you go on the Peter Pan ride? It’s a must!
Man, I miss Disneyland. I haven’t gone in a year and a half. I love the rides and I love the weather in Southern Cali.
As for the food, I always buy food there. I know it’s expensive, and unhealthy, but sometimes, it’s just part of the experience. It’s kind of a hassle to bring food into the park, especially when I’d be staying at a nearby hotel.
thanks Helen! I think my faves are pirates, space mountain, and small world.
Omg! I forgot to mention pirates too! I go on that everytime I go! and, Indiana Jones. Did you go on that one?
Ah, every blogger seems to go to Disneyland at least once! It looks like the two of you had such a lot of fun, too! I’m getting really jealous right here
.
Do you have a favourite Disney movie?
Ohh hope you get to go someday soon too!
I have a few favorites! Mulan, Lion King, and Cinderella…hehe.
It’s hard to pick only one favourite, right? They’ve come out with too many good ones. Ah, I enjoyed Cinderella and Mulan, too. I haven’t watched the second movie of the latter so far for some reason, though. Did you watch it?
FUN!!! So glad you guys had a great time!
What a great start to a birthday celebration. Happy early birthday!
And I totally feel ya on the Disney prices. With Disney World only about 250 miles away in Orlando (my old home!), I feel the temptations of making a visit every now and then. I usually make a trip to one of the parks every 3 years or so, and I think it’s been about a year now. I’ve got a bit to go
haha
thanks Brittany! And I hear about how great Disney world is, really wanna see epcot.
I try to pack food! It is a great way to save some $$$
Oh, how fun!! What a great birthday outing
I have never been as I’ve not been to the parts of the US that have Disney parks, but would definitely love to go one day. And I hope you have a great birthday today (or at least, it’s today in Australia, it’s probably still the 11th in America as I type!).
haha thanks Kari! Unfortunately I’m pretty sick but will be better by tonight?
It’s your birthday today! Happy birthday Ellie! May you be happy and well always. God bless.
aww thanks for checkin’ in and renewing the birthday wish! lol that’s sweet of you
DISNEYLAND!! Happy bday my love
Im glad you got to celebrate with something so fun!! And ice cream for dinner? Ninja and I do that every time we go there
thank you thank you! Kat we must meet soon…:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Disney would be the BEST way to celebrate too! The ice cream looks fantastic!
Thank you Kailey, and yes the ice cream was amazing! We shared of course, cuz it was ginormous. It’s the butter pecan and mocha almond fudge.
Ellie ssi! I’m so bummed out that I didn’t get to wish you Happy Birthday on Friday!! Oh boo!! Happy belated birthday!!! Hope you had a wonderful day and may God continue to bless you and your family!
Super jealous! The last time I went to Disney World was…hmmm…before I got married. Yea…it’s been awhile. And I’ve actually never been to Disneyland. What? How could they take out the Korean characters!! I would’ve totally noticed that too..hmph. And I cannot keep my eyes opened to save my life so there’s no hope there. Tim and I read this post together, and as soon as he saw the picture of you and the incredible ice cream, he exclaimed, “ooh bet you’re super jealous!” Why yes, yes I am! I’m so glad you had a wonderful time! I usually pack my whole pantry when we go to places like this. Everything’s so ridiculously expensive! I’m a typical ajumma
awww it’s okay Unnie! Thank you for being so lovely though~:D And I Heard disneyworld is actually better than disneyland! So you’re prob. not missing out on much. And yes, they took the hangook eenyoungs.
And I agree that if you have the luxury to pack, pack as much as you can so you can splurge on some foods you REALLY wanna buy!
Happy belated birthday Ellie! Our birthdays are 2 days apart :O There’s no better place to spend your birthday than in Disneyland
I am very fond of Disney, my newest favourite movie of theirs is The Princess and The Frog, I have probably rewatched it over 10 times > <
