Sometimes Greg and I daydream about kicking it back at our honeymoon spot or simply going on a date full of relaxation, walking, and good food. Of course, being a new parent comes with the territory of having less free time for ourselves, which makes the days go faster and our date night/days much more seldom. Not that we are complaining, no way! Although we do have our “moments” of wishing to get out more often, I don’t think we can even imagine our lives without our blessing of a daughter! And even if we have gone out to eat at restaurants, taken her out shopping and even people’s homes by ourselves and not as a family, we never got to take her on a special outing together (for which we had to pay more than $30). But still, that does not mean that we can’t go out on a triple date now, right? And that is exactly what we did as we visited one of our favorite places–the Huntington near Pasadena.
We did get to venture out, however, past the heart of LA yesterday with our little Selah, and things didn’t necessarily go as we had planned. Let’s just say that we should have gone at least one hour earlier to give ourselves more wiggle room and actually walk around more than just the Japanese Garden. In addition, Selah was surprisingly very fussy and cranky by the time we got there and pretty much cried during the whole beginning of our trip. Thankfully, we soothed her to sleep and we were able to appreciate the Huntington for about one hour or so.
So this is my tip to all of you new parents! If possible, do not take your new baby to an outing that costs you money. A beach or something of that nature would be perfect, but not somewhere where they charge an entrance fee.
And…I’m guessing most of you experienced parents are shaking your heads in utter embarrassment as you are reading this. Don’t lie, I can feel you!
Even though nothing went as we’d hoped for, we learned that we have to actually start somewhere even if that means being somewhat embarrassed in public! Haha. Plus, we actually managed to use up a Red Lobster gift card for dinner as Selah quietly watched us eat, so that was definitely a hooray moment! Here are some pictures from our brief family outing!
