Liebster Award Q&A

Today is a survey kind of day. 

The super lovely Cailee and Giselle have kindly given me the opportunity to join in the Liebster Award.  I truly apologize in advance for those who have chosen me in the past and I flaked out on you!  I kept writing my own posts and topics and before I knew it, the Liebster fell through the cracks.

Since I thought both Cailee and Giselle's questions were fabulous, I went ahead and chose my favorite ones from both gals.  As for the people I chose for the Liebster award, I chose them regardless of the size of their following.

1.  How do you stay motivated to eat right and be active?

I strongly believe that a lot of our motivation to eat well and be active stems from the mind.  Although I don't have any 'magical advice' to give people when it comes to the topic, what I can say is that I remember how amazing I feel after a workout!  I literally visualize all the toxins seeping out through my pores with each intense and sweaty workout, while I also try to stay mindful of the nutrients that enter my body through wholesome food.  When I visualize my body thriving from all the healthy goodness, next to staying fit and strong, I can easily motivate myself because I feel like I have no limits!

2.  What is your favorite 'treat' food?

Oh man, this is a hard one!  But I would have to say cupcakes galore and all the massive and loaded enchiladas in the world!  Yup, that would be a perfect foodie day, in my opinion.

3.  In a typical day, what would you usually eat?

As I already stated in my other posts, I tend to eat 75-80% clean foods with wholesome ingredients.  Therefore, I keep it healthy but still somewhat lenient.  Example:  fluffy millet pancakes for breakfast, a huge salad with a runny egg or hummus as protein for lunch, a bowl of greek yogurt+fruit for an afternoon snack (sometimes a pastry here and there, hehe), and whatever is on the menu for dinner.  This one can vary almost every night.

4.  What is your workout routine?

It typically takes me about 16 minutes to complete a hard core HIIT circuit, 25 minutes of yoga with Ali Kamenova on maybe 2 days during the week, and maybe a 2.5 mile run at the park once a week--on a day when Selah and I take a walk in the great outdoors. :)  I basically alternate all of these and go with what I feel like I need to work on a given day.

 5.  What’s your biggest hobby or (in my case) obsession?

I consider baking and taking photos of everything my official hobby {obsession}!  But if we were to talk about one silly little quirk that most people don't know about me, it is the fact that I analyze accents, languages, and cultures to the nitty gritty.  Let me clarify that it's not because I think a certain accent sounds funny or anything like that.  It's because I am beyond fascinated with trying to figure out where a certain language originates from, or what part of the world that person might have been in since they do so-and-so gesture...and so forth. What can I say?  I majored in Linguistics for a reason? :)

6.  If you didn’t blog about what you do now, what would you write about?

Since I love to immerse myself in different cultures, I would probably blog about traveling/missions.  On the flip side, I also have a growing penchant for anything fashion-related for some odd reason (well, I can thank my Instagram feed for that one) so maybe fashion?  Although...that's an intimidating one for me since I don't feel "qualified" for it.  Do you guys have blog topics that you wouldn't feel "qualified" to write about?

7.  If you could live in any country where would you go?

Ah! This one is challenging.  Hmmm Austria because of Sound of Music, India because I left my heart there a few years ago, and Greece. 

8.  What’s your biggest pet peeve?

Easy.  When I'm going straight down the road at 50 mph and a driver decides to turn and pull right in front of me.  It's okay if they speed up a bit, but it's another story when they think it's fun to crawl at 30 mph.  Haha!  Anyone relate?

9.  What talent or accomplishment are you most proud of?

Hmmm I don't know if I would categorize these as accomplishments, but I would go with giving birth to Selah.  I mean, how in the world did I give birth to this beauty?!  Okay..besides the obvious.  Get your mind out of the gutter. :)  Everyday I am simply AMAZED by the fact that she is part me and part Greg.  And everyday I see a bit of God's fatherly love for us just by the way I love her more and more with each passing hour. 

10.  Who is your blogging inspiration?

Oh gosh, there are just so many to name.  But these are some of the characteristics that draw me in to a certain blog:  genuine, seeking the welfare of others, passionate, and he/she makes me say, "I want to make that asap", "how come I never thought of doing that?", "I love her hardcore perseverance with those burpees", "the light+shadow in that photo....it's just mesmerizing".
